Blended merino wool fibres and different types of fabric are used to make a type of felt known as nunofelt. This is described more fully in Wraparounds.
Highly unusual felt pieces are produced, some glittery, some rather sumptuous; each piece is individually made, with particular attention paid to the edges: marvellous crinkly effects are achieved by manipulation of the fabric as the wool fibres shrink and work their way into the fabric.
Whilst the mixes of colour and texture are complex, the designs are simple: most pieces have a small hole that serves as a fastener or the neckpieces may be tied or fastened with a brooch.
Some of the Sparkle neckpieces are long enough to be wound twice round the neck or once round the waist, as sashes and jeans belts. Many of them are also used as hair wraps or ties.
Many of these pieces work very well with jackets, brightening up occasionally dull workadays!
