The Smudge Scarf was designed to cater for people who cannot tolerate wool fibres next to the skin, particularly around the neck. Hand-dyed silk muslin, or silk crepeline that merges seamlessly into felt edges allows me to use the magic of felt, merging fibres and fabric without the use of stitches, and enables a little felt to be worn as the luxurious silk sits comfortably on delicate areas of the neck. Silk crepeline is a light, transparent and voluminous fabric, very new to this range (no image yet).
I enjoy mixing the colours and dying silk; it takes dyes beautifully and its natural lustre gives a vibrant sense of luxury, particularly when contrasted with the density of felt.
The Smudge Scarf is a full scarf length and width; the bootlace is a narrow, shorter version of this technique and uses hand-dyed silk jersey.
